Can you combine multiple HoldSay recordings into one note?
Merge recordings in order and keep the originals.
Combine recordings when one conversation was captured in separate segments but should be reviewed as a single note.
Select the segments, arrange them in the order the conversation happened, and HoldSay joins their audio and text into one note.

Select the segments and put them in order
Merge works on finished Recording or Dictation items that still have their audio. Imported files cannot be merged, and an item that is still recording or processing has to finish first.
Arrange the selected segments in the order the conversation happened.
- In the library, enter selection mode and select at least two finished items that belong to the same conversation.
- Choose Merge. The merge window lists the segments, and HoldSay joins audio and text in the order shown.
- Drag the segments into the order the conversation happened, using their titles and times to tell similar recordings apart.
- Play the opening of any segment you are unsure about. A continuation placed before the part that introduced its topic is the most common merge mistake.
Check the sequence as a whole before confirming: a three-part conversation can look right at one join while its first and last segments are reversed.
Choose what happens to the originals, then verify
Delete originals after merging is on by default. Turn it off before confirming if a segment still matters on its own, or if you want a safety copy until you have checked the combined note.
Keep the source items until the combined note has been checked.
After the merge, open the combined note and replay the joins between segments to confirm the conversation continues in the right order and that nothing was left out or pulled in by mistake.
Finally, rename the note after the whole conversation rather than one segment, and create or refresh the summary so it reflects the complete sequence.
Common questions
Can I merge HoldSay recordings?
Yes. In the library, enter selection mode, select at least two finished Recording or Dictation items with audio, then choose Merge.
Can I change the order before merging recordings?
Yes. Drag the selected segments into the correct sequence in the merge window before you confirm.
Does merging delete the original recordings?
Delete originals after merging is selected by default. Turn it off before confirming if you want the separate items to remain in your library.
